Courageous Bride Proves Bald is Beautiful

We’ve had our share of lovely brides that have graced the pages of SMP, but perhaps none as fiercely beautiful and inspiring as this one. She’s reminded us that the true beauty behind a wedding is in the love and strength two people can give one another—not the dress, shoes, makeup or even hair can shine as bright. After being diagnosed with cancer nine months into planning her wedding, this sweet bride chose to stand strong, hair or no hair, and marry her handsome Marine. And with a little help from The Plumed Serpent, she donned her mother’s veil that was transformed into the most gorgeous head wrap we’ve ever seen. It’s love at it’s best m’dears and it’s all right here in this breathtaking gallery from Andrea Jacobson.

From the Bride… Our dream come true wedding was held at The Hotel Washington in the District on July 13, 2013. We had been planning our fairy tale wedding for nine months when Jeff and I got the heartbreaking news that I had been diagnosed with cancer. With just under four months until our wedding, I couldn’t imagine going through chemotherapy and also planning our wedding. My oncologist had told me I would have to postpone our wedding until I was healthy, however, I knew that was not a possibility. I needed to have something amazing to look forward to, and that is just what we did.
We had the most wonderful wedding vendors I could have ever wished for. They did absolutely everything in their power to make sure that our wedding day was everything we had ever dreamed of. I could not imagine going through our wedding without having them by our side. The amazing seamstresses and designers at The Plumed Serpent designed the most gorgeous head wrap for me to wear using my mother’s veil. I still felt like a beautiful bride even without any hair.
I was lucky enough to marry my Marine in his Dress Blue Alpha’s and he has been my side supporting me through this battle in beating cancer. He is an amazing husband, and I had my dream wedding come true.
