Top 5 Mistakes To Avoid While Wedding Planning

A List Guide, a stylish and comprehensive online directory listing the best venues, event suppliers, and team-building activities in each state and territory of Australia knows that a wedding is one of the most special days of most peoples’ lives, so it’s natural to want everything to go smoothly while planning.

The truth is, though, darling bride, that there will likely be minor slip-ups during the preparation stage or the wedding itself, but here are certain mistakes that, if considered and prepared for in advance, can prevent headaches down the road!

Jeremy at A List Guide has outlined the top 5 mistakes to avoid while wedding planning, so read on!

Unreasonable Spending
It’s very easy to fall into the trap of wedding planners or suppliers who are giving you advice about your wedding – although they have plenty of good ideas, in the end they do seek a profit from your special event and thus might try to persuade you to spend in areas where it’s really not necessary.
Of course, if you have a limitless budget, all the fancy add-ons might make the wedding a little more luxurious, but you should really focus your spending on parts that are really important, like the right venue, entertainment, food or even the honeymoon, instead of carelessly wasting money on things like limousines or an extra fancy wedding dress.
Of course, if that extra luxurious item is something you really want and not just there for showing off, then go ahead and get it – after all, a wedding is one of the most important days in a person’s life and you want to make it special.

Missing Out On Your Favorite Venue
One habit that many couples planning a wedding fall into is failing to choose the venue in time –after picking up the few venues that they like the most they spend too much time thinking it over and end up losing them to other bidders. If you find a place that you like and the price is acceptable, don’t hold off too long looking for an even better one, or you might be left empty handed.
Still, if you’re venue hunting and are on a budget, it might be wise to keep constant contact with the few venues you like for last-minute cancellations, which might mean a steep discount for you that you can afford.

Buying the Wedding Dress Online
It seems that nowadays everybody is buying everything online, but even though it’s a very convenient method of shopping for most things, when it’s something as important and as special as a wedding dress, you simply can’t risk picking the wrong one.
After all, a dress that looks perfect on one person might look very poorly on another, so it’s easy to see how slim the chances of finding the right dress become when you’re choosing it from a few stock photos on a website.

Not Hiring a Professional Photographer
The wedding might only last a day or two, but the memories of it will last for a lifetime and thus you don’t want to mess up immortalizing the event in pictures and video. Sure, your cousin might have a digital camera and consider himself a photographer, but unless he makes a living out of it, chances are you’re going to regret letting him be the photographer every time you look at your wedding pictures.

Yes, professional wedding photographers are expensive, but that’s because they can allow themselves to be – capturing the essence of a wedding might even be considered an art form and you are going to be thankful you chose him when you see how stunning the pictures are.

Leaving the Playlist Completely to the DJ/Band
Letting the DJ or the band choose the playlist themselves might not seem like such a big deal – after all, they are professionals and know what they’re doing, right? Well, the thing is they have their own personal preferences to certain music and it might not coincide with yours, and with the wedding being a special day for the to-be-weds, the music should probably reflect their own music taste.
So always make sure the band can play your favorite songs or provide the DJ with a music playlist that you want him to feature. Of course, that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t consider his opinion – he knows what kind of music people like dancing to and might be able to suggest some good additions to complement your playlist.
