25 Sweet Ways To Give Thanks Before, During And After Your Wedding

In the spirit of the season, we’ve gathered some fun ways to give thanks before, during, and after your big day.

1. Keep a gratitude journal. Unlike a regular diary, which requires daily upkeep, jot down quick thoughts about your planning “highs” (e.g. what you felt like when you bought your dress) whenever you have the time. You can also use it to store fun mementos like a sketch of your cake.

2. Spend quality time with your maid of honor and best man. Plan a one-on-one hangout before the wedding chaos takes over. You’ll relish the opportunity to bond with them before the biggest day of your life.

3. Exchange letters on the morning of the wedding. Sure, “meet you down the aisle” texts are charming, but there’s nothing quite like putting pen to paper. Thank your future spouse for marrying you and making you the luckiest woman alive. Capture each other’s reaction on film by reading the letters out loud for your videographer.

4. Unveil a fun wedding surprise for your groom. Is ESPN the soundtrack of your home? Give a nod to his sports obsession by having guests sign a jersey as your “guest book.” Did he spend his childhood (and beyond) secretly wishing he was Spiderman? We’re smitten with this creative take on the groom’s cake.

5. Savor a quiet moment together. Soak in your surroundings — the stunning reception space that took months to plan, friends and family busting a move on the dance floor, that giddy look on your husband’s face that says, “We finally did it.”

6. Wipe away your parents’ tears of joy. Personalize vintage handkerchiefs with embroidered messages for Mom, Dad, your mother-in-law, father-in-law, or any other close family members.

7. Dedicate your wedding to both sets of parents. At the ceremony, ask the officiant if you could read a poem in honor of your family. Here’s one example of wording we love, via weddings.usabride.com: “We would like to dedicate this ceremony to our parents. They have taught us our values and shown us how to laugh, love and appreciate all that life has to offer. Their generosity, support, and love are unending.”

8. Honor your parents’ marriage by incorporating their wedding-day photos. Whether it’s one small photo tucked into your armoire or a dedicated corner at the sign-in table, they’ll appreciate the sentimental gesture. Or, have your photographer help you re-create one of their favorite shots.

9. Carry a piece of them down the aisle with you. Use fabric from your mother’s wedding dress as your bouquet holder (like the photo pictured at right), or hang miniature childhood photos from your flowers. Instead of doing a bouquet toss, give a speech at the reception dedicating your bouquet to the most important woman in your life — Mom.

10. Give Mom and Dad one last hug before you’re pronounced husband-and-wife. Take the time to stop for one final display of affection. Just remind your parents that the officiant is waiting if they refuse to let go.

11. Toast to all of the times that your bridal party supported you. Thank your bridal party attendants for sharing in the joy of your wedding day with a quick speech. Don’t forget to hand out a glass of bubbly to each bridesmaid before you hit the road!

13. Spend one-on-one time with your flower girl and ring bearer. Give the little ones a bucket filled with crayons and activities to keep them busy at the reception, let them play with your dress, and say “cheese” in the front of the camera for their very own portrait.

14. Give your bridal party kudos in your wedding program. Explain what their relationship is to you (a sister, friend, coworker) and include a few fun facts about them.

15. Dedicate a special song to your ‘maids and groomsmen. Don’t require them to practice a dance beforehand, unless you’re Zumba buddies or were in a dance troupe back in high school! Just have your DJ or band play a song from your past and watch unscripted hilarity ensue.

16. Thank your vendors for making your wedding vision come to life. Pay it forward by writing a positive review online, if you were happy with their service.

17. Give vendors a shout-out in your toast. If you plan on saying a few words to welcome guests to the wedding reception, mention all of the vendors who helped make your night (or day) a success.

18. Create a heartfelt guest book alternative. Your wedding day is the one time when you’re surrounded by everyone who loves you, all in the same room. What better way to bottle up all of their good wishes than by preserving and displaying them in your home afterward?

19. Incorporate “thanks” as part of your wedding décor. One popular option is to display a special thank-you on the menu. Or, you could include a meaningful blessing or prayer.

23. Donate your dress. After the big day, you can donate your dress and any other bridal accessories to Brides Against Breast Cancer, which will resell it and use the proceeds to help a woman with cancer. Or, you can gift it to Brides for a Cause, which collects and resells gowns to support Wish Upon a Wedding, a non-profit organization that grants weddings to couples in need.

24. Donate flowers. Organizations such as The FlowerPower Foundation (based in New York and L.A.), Blooms From the Heart (San Diego) and Floranthropy (Seattle) will re-assemble your donations into new floral arrangements for hospices and nursing homes that could use some cheer.

25. Donate food. Arrange to have any extra food from your reception “rescued” to feed hungry people in your area. Find out more at Second Harvest.

Bonus: Keep the spirit of gratitude going in your marriage. Leave secret messages for your spouse to find. At dinner, take a cue from The Queen of Giving, Oprah Winfrey, and tell them about three blessings that happened to you on that day. “When you focus on what you have, your abundance only increases,” the talk show host has said.

7 Wedding Thank-You Note Dos and Don'ts

thank-you-minted-craftandflorals.jpg
We know, we know! You were so touched when you received all those wedding gifts from your family and friends, but the thought of writing a (seemingly) endless amount of thank-you cards seems like an impossible task at the moment. Rest easy: When done right, the act of writing your thank-you cards can be a gratifying and happy event.

DO: Mail Your Cards Out Within Three Months

We hate to break it to you, but you do not have an entire year to send your thank-you notes. Ideally you should send your thank-yous within a few days of receiving the gift. However, seeing that weddings are a crazy and hectic time, etiquette allows you a three-month grace period to get those cards in the mail.

DON'T: Send Pre-Printed Thank-You Cards

Look, your friends and family spent some time (and cash) picking out a gift for you and probably spent some money to attend your wedding—whether by buying a new dress, taking time off work, booking a hotel room and airfare, etc. So don't take the easy way out and send generic pre-printed or fill-in the blank thank-you cards.

DO: Write Them in Batches

Don't be a hero—or a procrastinator—and try and write all 137 of your thank-you cards in one night. Instead, make it manageable and write four or five a night over the course of a few weeks or months (as long as you can hit that three-month delivery mark). By pacing yourself, you'll be able to write meaningful and thoughtful messages instead of ones that read as rushed and banal.

DON'T: Forget Anyone

Basic rule of thumb: anyone who helped you, gave a gift, or had any part of your day needs to be thanked. So that includes: your parents, wedding party, and vendors—they all need to be acknowledged with a thank-you card.

DO: Be Organized

At your bridal shower, be sure to designate a secretary (usually your MOH) to keep track of all the gifts you received and who gave the gift. Once home, take that handwritten sheet and enter it into a spreadsheet that also contains mailing address and the date the gift was given. Log gifts in the same manner when they are delivered to your home and for gifts that are given the day of.

How to Write a Bridal Shower Thank-You Card

DON'T: Write a Novel

You don't have to pen an opus—four or five sentences with a heartfelt message will suffice. Be sure to mention the specific gift that was given, why you like it, and how you plan to use the gift; if the gift giver also came to your wedding be sure to include a sentence thanking them for attending.

DO: Divide and Conquer

Your better half does not have the luxury of sitting this task out. Instead, have him write thank-you cards for his friends and family and you write to yours. It's standard for one person to write and sign the card (making sure to mention their spouse in the note's message) but also totally OK to co-write and co-sign.

Pimp my Ride , Healthy Living and Get Ya Bowl On!

Hello My Blog Loves... Here is the Weekend Recap

I don't remember if I posted or not so sorry for the repeat. On Valentine's Day (Of all days) a woman bumped my bumper in the parking lot of the store and it needed to be repaired. My great friends Janet and Markus have a body shop so I dropped my ride off to be fixed and I got it back Friday night... The great part is because Janet and Markus are awesome and a great friends, they fixed the mystery scratches that have been on my car for a few years, detailed my ride and I feel like I have a brand new car again!!

Thank You Janet and Markus for all your hard work. If anyone ever needs Body work done, Visit Janet and Markus at http://www.losangelesautocollisionrepair.com/

In addition to being Great Friends.. They are newlyweds! They are celebrating their 1st Wedding Anniversary on March 23rd. Happy Early Anniversary my friends!

After I got my ride pimped, I headed over to Yoga to free my mind.... I swear I am going to be a Yoga Junkie in due time.

Saturday I got up and took Jacelyn to Delta Academy and after picking her up, I headed over to the dress shop to pick out my Bridesmaid's dress for my Mother in Law's wedding in August.

Here is my choice:

We went with Bari Jay for the selection and colors. Since it is going to be in August and hot as ever in Las Vegas... I think the Chiffon will be a good complement for the heat.

Here are the shoes that we will be wear with the dress:

After that we did some shopping and had dinner at my parents house.

Sunday I got to sleep in a little and then I headed to meet Sheauen and Ken for Lunch and St. Fatty Patty Cupcakes.

Sheauen makes these every year for St. Patrick's Day and we LOVE them. Although they are not on my list of healthy things to eat... I had one and it was worth it.

After lunch I came home and finished my dinner project:

This is my Jumbo Shells stuffed with Spinach and Cheese and I made Marinara with Turkey Meat... I know Italian women around the world are screaming in horror but it was so good and so worth it.

After dinner we met up with friends to get our bowl on for Ramone's Birthday!!

Happy Birthday Mamome...(Insider)

As I am not much of a bowler, I watch and chit chatted with the ladies as my Husband kicked butt!

Here is what is on tap for this week:

1. New Tattoo... Where should I put it (Post to follow soon)
2. Hope to spend more romantic time with my husband.
3. Health and Wellness
4. Yoga for sure.
5. Long walks..

I hope that everyone has a great week!!!

Empanadas, MAC and Idol

Hey my Bloggie Friends... Here is my weekend recap...

Friday I was so exhausted from the work week that I came home and went right to sleep... I know I party like a rock star.

Saturday Morning I got up and went and got my hair done.... Feeling fresh and brand new. After a failed trip to Honda (175.00 for a key repair...ummm no) and a trip to Target for a few items, I went to the nail shop for one of the best Mani/Pedi's I have ever had. Nothing like Paraffin Wax and a Foot mask to make a girl feel silky smooth. It was so awesome that I took Scott and Jacelyn back in the afternoon so they could have one as well.

Now that I was all pampered up and hungry, I picked up Jacelyn and Scott to take them to have Empanadas for lunch.

If you have never had these before... They are pies of awesome! I have not had them in awhile so it was a MUST that we went and had these.

After yummy and fullness, we headed over to the mall to spend a little bit of our tax money. We did decide that we would put some in savings but spend a little on ourselves since the last few years our taxes went to the wedding account. Scott went and finally got something for himself... A new pair of tennis shoes:

I of course went real big (At the urging of my Husband) and finally went from a PC to a MAC

OMG.. I AM IN LOVE!!

Its so lightweight, user friendly and I am so happy I got it. Yes, it was a little expensive but I am looking at it as an investment. I went ahead this morning and ordered a case for it... Purple of course

And now the MAC game begins.

After my new toy and Mani/Pedi's for my loves, we have a few friends come over for Domino's and Bacon Wrapped Hot Dogs...

Sunday I got up after the time change and did some laundry, got dinner ready and went on a some what date with Scott to see our friend Nick Amado perform in Cabaret Idol

Photo: First time playing live in months. Had a great time. Thank you Nick for the opportunity to step outside the Pantera shell and play one of the most beautiful songs. Congratulations on your success brotha!

Last Night was the finals and it was AWESOME!! He did such a great job and was crowned the winner!!!! It was such an experience to see him perform (I have seen him perform) and for him to be in the spotlight like this and be so open was so great to see.

Congratulations Nick!

Now it is time for me to adjust to this time change and get back to me... Here is what is on tap for this week:

1. Car repair...FINALLY
2. Yoga for sure
3. Maybe a walk with my Husband
4. Some time with Mini Me
5. Meditation.. I want to start it and get centered.

Have a great week my friends....

Well, What can I say... I never thought in a Million years that I would be a wife and look at me now, Here I am. I have to say that 2012 had some ruff spots, some losses that I thought I could not bare but the smile on my face in the photos showed that 2012's good outweigh the bad. I THANK ALL my Blogger Buddies for riding with me, reading my words and keeping me encouraged. I have learned from you all, grown with you and have friendships with all of you. To my family and friends, THANK YOU for being you always. Jacelyn and Isaiah, THANK YOU for letting me be the Mommy I am, I know I am still learning but know that I Love You both. My Husband, THANK YOU for choosing me to go through life with you. There is no one better for me than you.

25 Ways to Give Thanks at Your Wedding

I still follow the tradition of counting my blessings each year on Turkey Day (my Pre-K teacher would be proud). This Thanksgiving, I'm grateful to be marrying the love of my life in less than a year. I'm also thankful to have supportive family, friends, vendors, and guests—it takes an army to plan a wedding!
In the spirit of the season, we've gathered some fun ways to give thanks before, during, and after your big day.

Before the Wedding...

1. Keep a gratitude journal. Unlike a regular diary, which requires daily upkeep, jot down quick thoughts about your planning "highs" (e.g. what you felt like when you bought your dress) whenever you have the time. Also, use it to store fun mementos (like your gown consultant's business card).
2. Spend quality time with your maid of honor and best man. Before my friend's wedding (where I was a MOH), we had a beauty-prep day where we got massages and mani-pedis. We capped it off with lunch at one of our favorite restaurants. I loved getting quality time with her before wedding chaos took over.

On Your Wedding Day...

Thank your future spouse for marrying you and making you the luckiest woman alive.
3. Exchange letters on the morning of the wedding. Sure, "meet you down the aisle" texts are charming, but there's nothing quite like putting pen to paper. I know my fiancé Jason will smile when he reads my chicken scratch and "I love you to the moon and back" salutation. Capture each other's reaction on film by reading the letters out loud for your videographer.

4. Unveil a fun wedding surprise for your groom. Is ESPN the soundtrack of your home? Give a nod to his sports obsession by having guests sign a jersey as your "guest book." Did he spend his childhood (and beyond) secretly wishing he was Spiderman? We're smitten with this new take on the groom's cake!

5. Savor a quiet moment together. Soak in your surroundings—the stunning reception space that took months to plan, friends and family busting a move on the dance floor, that giddy look on your husband's face that says, "We finally did it."

On Your Wedding Day...

Thank Mom and Dad for being the best parents in the world.
6. Wipe away their tears of joy. Personalize vintage handkerchiefs with embroidered messages for Mom, Dad, your mother-in-law, father-in-law, or any other close family members.

7. Dedicate your wedding to them. At the ceremony, ask the officiant if you could read a poem in honor of your family. Here's one example of wording we love, via weddings.usabride.com: "We would like to dedicate this ceremony to our parents. They have taught us our values, and shown us how to laugh, love and appreciate all that life has to offer. Their generosity, support, and love is unending."
Or, you can surprise them at the reception, instead. Imagine the look on their faces when they flip over this drink coaster...

8. Honor their marriage by incorporating their wedding-day photos. Whether it's one small photo tucked into your armoire or a dedicated corner at the sign-in table, they'll appreciate the sentimental touch.

Or, have your photographer help you re-create one of their favorite shots! (P.S. If anyone knows who originally took this amazing photo, which has gone viral, please leave a comment below and we will attribute credit).
9. Carry a piece of them down the aisle with you. I plan on using a sleeve from Mom's wedding dress as my bouquet holder (like the one pictured at right), but it would also be sweet to hang miniature childhood photos from your flowers. Instead of doing a bouquet toss, give a speech at the reception dedicating your bouquet to the most important woman in your life—Mom.

10. Give them one last hug before you're pronounced husband-and-wife. Take the time to stop for one final display of affection. Just remind them that the officiant is waiting if they refuse to let go.

23. Donate your dress. You'll never wear it again, right? After the big day, hand it—and other accessories—to Brides Against Breast Cancer, which will resell it and use the proceeds to help a woman with cancer.
Or, you can donate it to Brides for a Cause, which collects and resells gowns to support Wish Upon a Wedding, a non-profit organization that grants weddings to couples in need.
