Find the Right Reception Entrance Song

Each week, we feature music recommendations from Scratch Weddings, the nation's leader with the best wedding DJs at affordable prices. This week's post comes from DJ Vida Ventura, who keeps dance floors moving from coast to coast with her ear for great music. Vida cuts her chops at quintessential Lower East Side hot spots and chic LA nightclubs. Vida's highly-sought DJ style is eclectic and energetic, and she is passionate about bringing her skills to couples looking for a fresh, fun take on a wedding DJ. "I love to mix genres and play everything from James Brown to Michael Jackson to Beyoncé in the same set and appeal to everyone at the wedding."

Through my experience, entrance songs tend to be that one song that can (and should) stick out stylistically from anything else played during the evening. I recommend songs that pack a big punch, either from the energy of the music or from the romantic verbiage in the lyrics. Your entrance song should be somewhat familiar to your audience, since it's typically played for just a limited amount of time. Consider: 15 seconds into the song "Crazy in Love" by Beyoncé won't have her actually saying those words, but since the song is familiar, it will be deduced.

Here, my favorite entrance songs:
"Sweet Disposition" - The Temper Trap
"Beautiful Day" - U2
"Crazy Little Thing Called Love" - Queen
"You Make My Dreams Come True" - Hall & Oates
"Show Me Love" - Robin S.
"I Feel Good (I Got You)" - James Brown
"By Your Side" - Sade
"Crazy in Love" - Beyoncé
"Now That We Found Love" - Heavy D
"Pump It" - Black Eyed Peas
"Rock and Roll" - Led Zeppelin
"It Takes Two" - Rob Base & DJ E-Z Rock
"Without You" - Usher (use the beat part)
"Real Love" - Mary J Blige
"Lust For Life" - Iggy Pop
"I Believe in a Thing Called Love" - The Darkness
"God Only Knows" - The Beach Boys
"Just Can't Get Enough" - Depeche Mode
